Henna bellies usually take 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes.
There are a few different ways to plan your maternity henna application:
In combination with a baby shower:

have the artist arrive ahead of the guests to get started on the mom-to-be, and when finished with the belly design we can get started on the guests. Recommended.

have the henna applied during the party with the guests watching, and then we can start on the guests.
For a private appointment:
-
we can apply a henna on the belly as well as on the hands and feet of the mom-to-be.

have a few friends in attendance to help keep the mom-to-be company and offer them some henna after you are finished.

What to Expect
Booking
To reserve Henna Planet's services, click on the Reserve Services button below and fill out the form with the date, location, and time of your event. There is a minimum two hour booking fee for locations within Toronto. Please get in touch for locations outside the Toronto boundaries.
If you aren't sure how many hours you need to book for based on the size of your party, send a message in the intake form and we will help you figure it out.
Once we confirm the booking, you will receive a Service Agreement to be signed and returned, and an invoice to be paid in full, in order to secure Henna Planet for your date. Once that is received, a booking confirmation will be sent to you.
Henna takes two to three days to darken. If this is for a photo shoot or a special occasion please plan accordingly.
Design
If you have an idea about what kind of design you would like, please let us know on the intake form or you may upload an image with a design that inspires you, and and we will come up with a custom design based on your preferences.
How to Prepare for your Henna Application
Exfoliating 2 - 3 days before the henna application will help to improve the stain. Make sure to avoid lotions, creams, oils etc. the day of the appointment. Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing. Please choose a spot in your home or event location that will be comfortable for you to sit for a long period of time and that has good lighting.

The henna stain takes 2 - 3 days to fully darken, if this if for a special occasion, plan your appointment accordingly.
The Day of
We will bring everything we need.
The artist will arrive approximately 5 - 20 minutes (depending on the specific event) before the start time to set up.
Once we begin, we will continue to work for the agreed time period allowing all interested parties to receive henna. If there is extra time, additional henna will be provided to those interested.
If you choose to add additional time on top of the original agreed upon time, and the artist is available to stay, you may do so at $50 per additional half hour, to be paid by credit, Apple/Android pay, email transfer, debit, or cash.
Please Read Before Booking
Plan to do your henna application between 35- 38 weeks.
Although henna is very safe, and the best oils for pregnancy are used in the paste, there are just a few questions to ask before you receive your maternity henna:
1. Is your pregnancy high risk?
2. Do you or your current children (if any) suffer from, or ever suffered from, the following:

G6PD Deficiency (Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency)
-
Hyperbilirubinemia
-
Anaemia
-
Any chronic or acute condition which affects the blood system or your immune system

Have you had natural henna before and had any kind of reaction
If yes to any of these questions then it is best not to have henna applied to you. If no to these questions then confirm with your health care provider to make sure henna is safe for you. You can let them know that our home-made natural henna paste includes 100% pure henna powder, organic lemon juice, organic sugar, and lavendula angustifolia (lavender essential oil).

Henna Planet's Off Site Policy
Prepayment Upon Booking
In order to secure Henna Planet for your service, payment is due in full upon booking. You will receive an invoice through Square in which you will be able pay with any major credit card, debit, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or gift card. On the day of your event, if you find that you want to retain Henna Planet's services beyond the time you paid for, and the artist is available, you may pay the balance at the end of the service. Additional time is charged in half hour increments at $50 with any of the above payment methods including cash or email transfer.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
Once you have booked an event with us it means that we have reserved time in our schedule exclusively for you. To avoid a loss of your investment, please provide cancellation notice at least 48 hours prior to your start time and we will allow a one time reschedule opportunity without penalty as long as rescheduling occurs within two weeks of cancelling. Subsequent requests for rescheduling will be considered a cancellation and you will need to rebook.
If you cancel your appointment less than 48 hours before it is scheduled to take place, your appointment will be considered cancelled, you will not be able to reschedule, and you will not receive a refund.

Refunds
There are no refunds on henna services. You may reschedule if you get in touch within the minimum time frame allowed for rescheduling, see Cancellations and Rescheduling.
Health and Wellness
Please be respectful of your henna artist. If you are unwell, please reschedule. Henna Planet reserves the right to refuse service for those exhibiting signs of illness, and cancellations may occur with no refund.
Indoor and Outdoor Settings
Henna Planet will bring a table and chairs for all events. You are responsible for providing the following:

Outdoor Events: a shady location (unless a tent is provided by Henna Planet), away from loud music, and near an outlet if possible.

Indoor: a place to work that has plenty of light, away from loud music, and near an outlet if possible.
Henna Planet can provide some light, but being placed in the most natural lighting possible is greatly appreciated.
Animals
Dogs, cats, and henna do not mix. For In-Home Services, if there is a pet in the household that is likely to disrupt the henna application process, please place them in another room for the duration of the henna. If your pet is likely to sit quietly without disrupting the service, it is fine for them to remain in the room.
Minimum Age
Henna is for 6 year olds and up only.
